Hanumantha Nagar Police Investigate Alleged Assault of Minor Student; Viral Video of Parents Confronting School Sparks Outrage
Bengaluru: A serious case of alleged physical abuse of a five-year-old boy has been reported from Hanumantha Nagar area in Bengaluru, with police launching an investigation after the child’s parents filed a formal complaint against a private school teacher.
According to officials at the Hanumantha Nagar Police Station, the incident occurred at a private educational institution located near Srinivas Nagar. The child, a kindergarten student, allegedly returned home in visible distress, prompting his parents to question him.
Parents Lodge Complaint After Child’s Account
Police sources said the parents approached the school management immediately after hearing the child’s narration and later filed a complaint with the Hanumantha Nagar police.
Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered and an inquiry is currently underway. Officials are collecting statements from the school staff, management and other witnesses.
Teacher Allegedly Apologised, Parents Claim Repeated Assault
According to the parents, the teacher allegedly admitted to the act and apologised before the police after the complaint was filed. However, the situation reportedly escalated following the formal complaint.
“After we approached the police, our child was allegedly assaulted again inside the school,” a parent claimed in a video interaction that has since surfaced on social media.
The allegation of repeated assault, including claims that the child was hit on the back and cheek, has intensified concerns regarding safety mechanisms and monitoring systems in private schools.
Viral Video Triggers Public Outrage
A video purportedly showing a confrontation between the parents and the school management over the alleged abuse has gone viral, drawing widespread public attention and demands for strict action.
Police officials stated that they are verifying the authenticity of the video, examining medical records and reviewing CCTV footage, if available.
Legal Action Under Consideration
Officials said that appropriate provisions under the Juvenile Justice Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code will be invoked if the allegations are substantiated.
On the Other hand, education activists and child rights groups have urged the authorities to conduct stricter inspections of private educational institutions and enforce zero tolerance toward corporal punishment, mentioning the need for robust child protection policies.
