Kolkata: The high-voltage campaign for the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 has ended, and attention has now shifted to the crucial second and final phase of voting, being held today across 142 constituencies.
This phase is considered decisive in determining who will form the next government in the politically crucial eastern state. Voting began early morning amid tight security and long queues at several polling booths.
3.21 Crore Voters to Decide Fate of 1,448 Candidates
According to official figures, more than 3.21 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase. This includes 1.64 crore male voters, 1.57 crore female voters, 792 third-gender voters. A total of 1,448 candidates are contesting in this round, making it one of the biggest single-day polling exercises in the state election.

The second phase covers constituencies spread across major districts and urban centres, including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia, Purba Bardhaman, North and South 24 Parganas regions.
