Ramanathapuram student suffers severe facial injuries after violent assault near Father Periyar College in Trichy
Tiruchirappalli: A shocking incident of violence against a college student was reported from Tiruchirappalli after a young woman was allegedly attacked with a stone by her boyfriend near Father Periyar College in Kajamala area on Sunday.
According to preliminary information, the victim, a college student from Ramanathapuram district, was reportedly in a relationship with the accused youth. The situation allegedly turned violent after disagreements emerged between the couple following opposition from the girl’s parents to their relationship.
The accused is said to have attacked the student brutally on her face using a stone during an argument near the college premises. The sudden assault created panic among passersby and local residents in the Kajamala area.
Trichy Stone Attack Leaves College Student Seriously Injured
Eyewitnesses stated that the victim collapsed after sustaining severe facial injuries in the attack. Locals immediately rushed to help the injured student and shifted her to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Hospital sources indicated that the student suffered serious injuries to her face and is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision.
The accused allegedly attempted to flee the scene after the assault. However, members of the public chased and surrounded him before reportedly assaulting him and later handing him over to the K.K. Nagar Police.
“The accused was caught by the public while trying to escape after the attack,” sources said.

Police officials have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the accused regarding the circumstances that led to the violent attack. Authorities are also collecting statements from witnesses and reviewing evidence from the area.
