Users demand action after a viral video alleges an extra charge for a transfer certificate
New Delhi: A viral video shared on the social media platform X has triggered widespread outrage after allegations surfaced that a private school in Delhi demanded money from a parent for issuing a Transfer Certificate (TC) despite all pending fees reportedly being cleared.
The controversy began after an X user, Ramanand06X, posted photos and details claiming that a father who visited a private school in Delhi to collect his son’s TC was allegedly asked to pay Rs. 200 before the certificate would be handed over.
According to the viral post, the father questioned the school authorities over the additional payment, arguing that all school dues had already been settled. The user further claimed that once questions were raised, the money was allegedly returned, but not before the interaction had reportedly been recorded.
The incident has since sparked intense debate online, with several users questioning whether some private educational institutions are increasingly operating as commercial businesses instead of centres of education.
Users allege larger financial demands
As the video gained traction online, many users responded with strong criticism and demanded strict action against the school administration.
One social media user alleged that the incident occurred at CM Model School in Delhi’s Buddha Vihar area and claimed that a much higher amount had allegedly been demanded for releasing the TC.
“This incident at CM Model School in Buddha Vihar, Delhi, is extremely shocking. It is thought-provoking what might have happened to parents who silently paid such amounts,” a user wrote on X.
The same user also urged authorities, including the Delhi Education Department and the Directorate of Education, to investigate the matter and hold the school management accountable.
Another user, KVDHANUSH5, commented that many schools and colleges across India were increasingly becoming “money-making machines” and called for stronger government regulation to curb such practices.
Debate grows over private school fee practices
The viral controversy has once again brought attention to concerns surrounding fee-related practices in private schools across the country. Social media users have been debating whether institutions are imposing unofficial charges on parents despite existing regulations.
Educational activists and parents have often raised concerns regarding hidden fees, certificate charges and administrative payments collected by some institutions during admissions, transfers and examinations.
As of now, there has been no official statement issued by the school administration or the Delhi education authorities regarding the allegations circulating online.
The authenticity of all claims made in the viral posts has not yet been independently verified by authorities.
