Police register 19 missing cases involving minor girls in Raichur as authorities urge parents to stay alert during holidays

Raichur: A worrying rise in cases involving missing minor girls has triggered concern across Raichur after 19 incidents were registered in the district soon after the completion of SSLC and PUC examinations. Police officials say many of the cases involve teenage girls reportedly leaving home with adult men during the summer vacation period.

Authorities have now intensified awareness campaigns and appealed to parents to closely monitor the activities and emotional well-being of their children, especially teenagers, during holidays.

According to police officials, several girls reportedly informed parents that they were visiting friends’ homes or collecting study notes before going missing. Families later approached police stations after repeated attempts to locate their children failed.

Raichur Missing Minor Girls Cases Trigger Police Concern

Speaking about the issue, Arunangshu Giri stated that a total of 19 cases involving missing minor girls have been registered across various police stations in the district in recent weeks.

Police have reportedly traced six girls so far, while investigations in the remaining 13 cases are continuing. Officials believe such incidents tend to increase every year after board examinations and during extended summer holidays.

“If girls below 18 years leave with adult men, the matter is treated as a kidnapping case under the law,” SP Arunangshu Giri said while urging parents to remain vigilant.

Police officials noted that teenage children often make emotional or impulsive decisions without understanding long-term consequences. Authorities have advised parents to maintain open communication with children and provide counselling whenever necessary.

The Raichur police department has already begun awareness programmes in schools and colleges under different police station limits. Meetings have also reportedly been conducted with legal authorities to educate young adults about the serious legal consequences of involving minors in relationships or elopement cases.

Officials further stated that strict legal action would be taken against adults found luring or accompanying underage girls.
