Deadly late-night crash on Old Madras Road exposes risks of parked heavy vehicles and poor visibility on Bengaluru highways

Bengaluru: In a shocking late-night accident in Silicon City Bengaluru, three people were killed on the spot after a goods auto rammed into a stationary Eicher vehicle on the Medahalli flyover along Old Madras Road. The tragic incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the K.R. Puram Traffic Police Station, raising serious concerns over road safety and highway visibility during night hours.

Three Killed Instantly in Rear-End Collision
The deceased have been identified as Manikantha, Suresh, and Srinivas, all occupants of the goods auto. The impact of the collision was so severe that all three died instantly at the scene. According to initial reports, the victims were residents of Whitefield, Bengaluru.

Tyre Burst Leaves Truck Stranded on Flyover
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Eicher canter truck, which was transporting potatoes from Kolar to Bengaluru, suffered a tyre burst while crossing the Medahalli flyover. Following the incident, the driver parked the vehicle on the side of the road and began replacing the damaged tyre.

Fatal Impact During Tyre Replacement
At the same time, the speeding goods auto approaching from behind failed to notice the stationary truck and crashed into it. The force of the collision completely wrecked the auto, leaving no chance of survival for its occupants.

Police Investigation Underway
Deputy Commissioner of Police Nemagowda and officials from the K.R. Puram Traffic Police Station rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and conducted a preliminary inspection.

“The goods auto collided with a parked canter after a tyre burst. We are examining visibility conditions and possible negligence. A detailed investigation is underway,” police sources said.

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the K.R. Puram Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Rising Night-Time Road Safety Concerns in Bengaluru
This incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by parked heavy vehicles on flyovers, especially during night hours when visibility is low. Experts stress the urgent need for better hazard indicators, reflective signage, and stricter enforcement of highway safety norms to prevent such fatal accidents.
