A 40-year-old IT employee was arrested after allegedly firing an air gun from the balcony of an apartment in Sipani Apartments near Bandapura in Bengaluru's Anekal taluk during the early hours of Wednesday. No injuries were reported, but several vehicles were damaged. Suryanagar police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
Bengaluru: Panic spread among residents of Sipani Apartments near Bandapura in Anekal taluk after an alleged air gun firing incident during the early hours of Wednesday. Police arrested a 40-year-old IT employee accused of firing at parked vehicles and security guards from his apartment balcony.
The accused has been identified as Anurag Tiwari, a native of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, who works for a private company in Whitefield. According to police, he has been residing in Flat B304 of the Bliss-1 block at Sipani Apartments for the past eight months.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Suryanagar Police Station, where a case has been registered.
Police said no injuries were reported in the incident, but several vehicles sustained damage after being hit by air gun pellets.
Bengaluru Air Gun Firing Triggered Midnight Panic
According to the preliminary investigation, Anurag Tiwari had allegedly consumed alcohol before the incident.
Police said he was speaking loudly on the phone inside his apartment before stepping onto the balcony at around 2.30 am. He allegedly began firing an air gun towards parked vehicles and the parking shed below.
When security guards approached the building after hearing the firing sounds, the accused allegedly fired in their direction as well.
The firing reportedly continued for nearly 45 minutes, creating panic among residents of the apartment complex.
Vehicles Damaged in Sipani Apartment Firing
Several vehicles parked inside the apartment premises were damaged during the incident. One of the affected residents, Bidyut, said his vehicle's glass was shattered after being struck during the firing.
"The incident happened around 2.30 am. They also fired towards the security guards. No one was injured, but my car's glass was damaged. I have filed a complaint at the Suryanagar Police Station," Bidyut said.
Police confirmed that no residents or security personnel sustained injuries.
SOCO Team Collects Evidence at Crime Scene
Following the complaint, Suryanagar police reached the apartment complex and took the accused into custody.
The Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team inspected the apartment and surrounding area, collecting air gun pellets and other evidence from near the damaged vehicles.
Police also seized the air gun and ammunition allegedly used during the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the firing and recording statements from witnesses.
Police Investigation Continues
A case has been registered at the Suryanagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Police are verifying all aspects of the incident, including the sequence of events and the extent of property damage.
Officials said additional legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
