Two fatal road accidents in Chamarajanagar and Chikkaballapur claim four lives, including an infant and an elderly couple

Bengaluru: Four people, including a 7-month-old baby and an elderly couple, were killed in two separate road accidents reported from Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar and Chikkaballapur districts on Thursday. The tragic incidents also left five others seriously injured, prompting police investigations into speeding and loss of vehicle control as primary causes.

The accidents occurred near Doddamudahalli Cross in Chamarajanagar and Sadali Cross in Chikkaballapur, resulting in extensive vehicle damage and immediate hospitalisation of the injured.

Chamarajanagar Car Collision Leaves Infant and Elderly Man Dead
In the first accident, a high-speed collision between two cars near Doddamudahalli Cross in Chamarajanagar taluk turned fatal after a Swift car reportedly lost control and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

Mubarak (70) and a 7-month-old baby boy died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. Five other passengers, including children, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to CIMS Hospital in Chamarajanagar for treatment.

Police officials from the Chamarajanagar traffic unit visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case in connection with the incident.

Chikkaballapur Bus Accident Kills Elderly Couple on NH 44
In a separate incident near Sadali Cross on National Highway 44 in Gudibande taluk, an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus collided with a TVS XL two-wheeler, killing an elderly couple instantly.

The deceased have been identified as Lakshman (75) and his wife Ratnamma (70), residents of Thirukachenahalli in Shidlaghatta taluk. Police said the couple died on the spot after being run over by the bus.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident occurred when the two-wheeler reportedly made a sudden turn without noticing the approaching bus travelling from Kadiri towards Bengaluru.

A case has been registered at Peresandra police station, and further investigation is underway.

Karnataka Road Accidents Raise Safety Concerns
Both incidents have once again highlighted concerns over road safety, speeding and traffic discipline on Karnataka highways and rural roads. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to determine the exact sequence of events in both crashes.

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly on high-speed corridors and junctions prone to sudden traffic movement.

The investigation into both fatal accidents is currently ongoing.
