Bengaluru: In an exciting cultural crossover, the much-anticipated Malayalam film Palli Chattambi is making headlines for its unique connection with Karnataka, featuring Yakshagana art and Kannada dialogues. The film, starring Tovino Thomas, is set to attract audiences across regions with its blend of storytelling and cultural elements.

Speaking at a press meet in Bengaluru, Tovino Thomas revealed that the film incorporates Yakshagana, a traditional art form of Karnataka, along with Kannada dialogues. He clarified that these elements were not added merely for appeal but were included as per the story’s demand, enhancing authenticity.
“Yakshagana is used in the film, and there is also a Kannada dialogue. It was included only because the story required it,” Tovino said.
Growing Karnataka Connection in Malayalam Cinema
Malayalam films have long shared a connection with Bengaluru and Karnataka. Films like Bangalore Days, Dear Friend, and Loka: Chapter 1 have showcased this link through locations and narratives. Now, ‘Palli Chattambi’ continues this trend by integrating Karnataka’s cultural identity into its storyline.

Film Set in a Rural Backdrop
Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, known for Jana Gana Mana, the film is set in a village backdrop, with its trailer already grabbing attention. Interestingly, his earlier film also had a storyline connected to Karnataka’s Ramanagara region.

The film stars Tovino Thomas alongside actress Kayadu Lohar, who previously appeared in the Kannada film Mugilpete. The movie is produced under the banners of World Wide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainment by Noufal, Brijesh, Chanukya Chaitanya, and Charan.
The story is penned by S. Suresh Babu, with cinematography by Tijo Tomy, editing by Sreejith Sarang, and music composed by Jakes Bejoy.
Release in Kannada and Malayalam
‘Palli Chattambi’ will release in both Malayalam and Kannada, with Hombale Films handling distribution in Karnataka. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 15, raising expectations among Kannada audiences eager to see their culture represented on a wider platform.
