Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar directs officials to resolve civic issues promptly during the weekly grievance redressal programme


Bengaluru: The Bengaluru North City Corporation witnessed a strong public response during its weekly Phone-In Programme, with Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar directing officials to ensure immediate action on citizen complaints.

The programme was held at the Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall on Amruthahalli Main Road from 7:00 AM, where the Commissioner personally interacted with residents across the city’s northern zones.

64 Grievances Registered in a Single Day
A total of 43 calls were received during the session, leading to the registration of 64 grievances. Issues ranged from waste management and streetlight maintenance to pothole repairs, e-Khata concerns, and unauthorised constructions.


Officials were instructed to take swift and effective action on all complaints.

“Prompt response and resolution of public grievances must be ensured,” the Commissioner directed.

Strong Response Since Launch
Since its launch on September 26, the Phone-In Programme has gained significant traction. Over the past 28 weeks, a total of 1,626 complaints have been registered, out of which 1,130 have been successfully resolved.


Remaining grievances, along with those related to other departments, have been forwarded to the concerned authorities. The Commissioner also emphasised the need to expedite the resolution of 357 pending cases.


Weekly Initiative to Boost Civic Accountability
The Phone-In Programme is conducted every Friday to facilitate direct communication between citizens and civic authorities. The initiative aims to improve transparency and ensure faster grievance redressal.


IAS Probationers Observe Civic Functioning
Seven IAS probationers, including Abhinav Jain, Ritika Verma, Sameer Prakash Khode, Nagendra Babu Kumar, Pururaj Singh Solanki, Ramya Rangaswamy, and Zufisha Haq, participated in the programme to understand administrative processes and public interaction mechanisms.


Key Issues Raised by Citizens
Major concerns highlighted during the session included:
  1. • Streetlight maintenance at BEL Underpass
  2. • Pothole repairs
  3. • e-Khata name change issues
  4. • Unauthorized constructions
  5. • Tree branch trimming

Senior officials, including Joint Commissioner Pallavi and Chief Engineer Raghavendra Prasad, were also present.
