14-year-old Srinanda’s body recovered from Manikyadhara Hill after a massive search operation involving SDRF and police

Chikkamagaluru:In a tragic development, a 14-year-old girl from Kerala, who had gone missing during a trip to Karnataka, has been found dead in the hilly terrain of Chikkamagaluru district.

The deceased, identified as Srinanda, had gone missing on April 7 while visiting tourist spots in the region. Her body was recovered from a depth of nearly 2,000 feet in the Manikyadhara hill range, part of the Chandradrona mountain range.

Body Recovered After Intense Search Operation
A large-scale search operation was launched soon after her disappearance, involving teams from the SDRF, police, fire department, and other agencies. After three days of relentless efforts in challenging terrain, authorities finally located her body.

The difficult landscape, marked by steep slopes and dense forest cover, had significantly hampered rescue operations.

Went Missing During Tourist Visit
Srinanda was part of a 40-member tourist group that had travelled from Kerala to Chikkamagaluru. The group had visited prominent locations including Inam Dattatreya Bababudangiri Dargah and nearby waterfalls, where she reportedly went missing.

Her disappearance near the waterfalls had raised serious concerns due to the hazardous terrain.

Multiple Agencies Deployed
Authorities had deployed advanced tools such as drones and thermal imaging cameras to scan the area. A police team from Kerala had also joined the investigation, working alongside Karnataka officials.

Investigation Continues
While the body has been recovered, officials are now investigating the exact circumstances of her death. Preliminary suspicions suggest a possible fall, but other angles are also being examined.

Tragic End to Search Efforts
The incident has cast a shadow over the region, highlighting the dangers associated with hilly tourist destinations and the need for enhanced safety measures.
