Chikkamagaluru: A young man identified as Chetan died after being shot during a night hunting trip in Kademane, a forest-side village in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district.
According to reports, seven friends had gone hunting in the forest on the night of September 30. During the hunting activity, a shot fired while targeting an animal reportedly struck Chetan, who was accompanying the group.
Chetan sustained a bullet injury to his stomach. His friends immediately took him towards Jayapura Hospital for treatment, but he died on the way due to the severity of the injury.
Koppa Hunting Incident Leads To Police Investigation
Following the incident, Balehonnuru police took three of the youths who brought Chetan to the hospital into custody and are questioning them. Three others who were allegedly involved in firing the shots are reported to be missing, and police have launched efforts to trace them.
The incident has left Chetan's family grieving, with his parents expressing their anguish outside Jayapura Hospital following the death.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation is expected to establish whether the firing was accidental or intentional. The exact circumstances of the incident will become clearer as the police inquiry progresses.
