Heavy monsoon rainfall continued to affect several parts of Karnataka on Monday, causing flooding, road closures and landslides in Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada districts. Authorities have placed disaster response teams on alert as rivers continue to rise across the Western Ghats region.
Kodagu: Continuous rainfall in Kodagu district has disrupted normal life, with flooding reported at several locations, including Triveni Sangama, where floodwaters have affected the bathing ghat used for Pindapradana rituals.
The overflowing Cauvery River has submerged the road leading to Karadigodu village in Virajpet taluk, while the Hodawada Road in Madikeri taluk has also gone underwater. Connectivity on the Murnadu–Napoklu Road has been disrupted after floodwaters cut off the route, causing inconvenience to commuters and public transport services.

Flooding has been reported from several parts of the district, affecting road traffic and routine activities as rainfall continues across the Cauvery catchment.

Bhagamandala Flooding Affects Pindapradana Rituals
At Bhagamandala, rising water levels at Triveni Sangama have inundated the bathing ghat, preventing devotees from performing Pindapradana ceremonies.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as river levels continue to fluctuate due to persistent rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
Dakshina Kannada Faces Heavy Rain and Landslides
Heavy monsoon rain and strong winds also affected Dakshina Kannada, where landslides, waterlogging and rising river levels disrupted normal life overnight.
District authorities have placed the State Disaster Response Force and the National Disaster Response Force on high alert as rainfall across the Western Ghats increased inflows into major rivers.
The Netravathi, Kumaradhara, Mrutyunjaya, Phalguni (Gurupura) and Somavathi rivers were reported to be flowing close to or above danger levels, prompting authorities to monitor downstream settlements and issue precautionary alerts.
Road Connectivity Affected in Coastal Karnataka
Landslides and flash floods disrupted road connectivity in several parts of Dakshina Kannada district.
In Belthangady taluk, a landslide blocked the Mundaje–Dharmasthala Road, while flash floods caused the collapse of a retaining wall at Neriya, resulting in water entering nearby residential areas.
Floodwaters also inundated areca nut plantations, agricultural fields and houses in Mundaje and Ujire, affecting local residents.
Heavy earth-moving machinery has been deployed along the Charmadi Ghat, Shiradi Ghat and Sampaje Ghat highway corridors to clear landslide debris and ensure the movement of essential services.
Authorities have deployed disaster response teams and heavy machinery as rainfall continues across the Western Ghats.
Authorities Issue Safety Advisory
Officials have advised residents, pilgrims and tourists to avoid riverbanks, flooded roads and other waterlogged areas until conditions improve.
Fishermen have also been directed not to venture into the sea due to strong surface winds and high waves along the Karnataka coast.
Authorities said emergency response teams remain on standby as rainfall is expected to continue in parts of the state over the coming days.
