Bengaluru: Karnataka has announced plans to introduce legislation for establishing India's first government AI University, marking a step in the state's artificial intelligence strategy. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the government will table a dedicated AI University Bill during the upcoming winter joint session of the legislature.
The proposed university is expected to serve as a dedicated institution for artificial intelligence education, research, innovation, and skill development while strengthening collaboration between educational institutions, industries, research organisations, and the government.
"The state government will introduce a dedicated AI University Bill in the upcoming winter joint session to establish the country's first government AI University," Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, according to Deccan Herald.
Karnataka AI University Bill focuses on AI research
The proposed AI University aims to strengthen Karnataka's technology ecosystem by creating a structured platform for artificial intelligence education and research. The institution is expected to promote collaboration between universities, technology companies, startups, research organisations, and government departments.
