Jhansi: Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster and former Member of Parliament Atiq Ahmed, was killed in a devastating road accident near Jhansi on Thursday. The fatal crash occurred while he was travelling back to Prayagraj after meeting his elder brother Ali Ahmed, who is currently lodged in Jhansi jail.
According to preliminary information from police, the accident took place on the Jhansi–Kanpur National Highway within the limits of the Poonch police station. The Hyundai Creta SUV carrying Aban and his associates reportedly lost control at high speed before crashing into a road divider. The impact was severe enough to leave the vehicle extensively damaged.
Police confirmed that Aban Ahmed and one of his close associates died at the scene, while three other occupants sustained serious injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
High-Speed Collision Turns Fatal
Investigators believe excessive speed may have been a major factor behind the accident. The SUV rammed into the divider with considerable force, resulting in catastrophic damage to the front portion of the vehicle.
Emergency responders and local police reached the accident site soon after receiving information. Rescue teams extricated the injured passengers and shifted them first to the Community Health Centre in Moth before they were referred to Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College for advanced medical care.
Authorities said the condition of the injured remains under medical observation.
Return Journey After Meeting Brother
Police said Aban Ahmed had travelled from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmed, who remains incarcerated in Jhansi jail in connection with criminal cases.
The accident occurred while the group was returning to Prayagraj following the prison visit. Officials are examining the sequence of events leading up to the crash and are gathering evidence from the scene.
Police Begin Detailed Investigation into Aban's Demise
Following the incident, police secured the accident site and initiated a detailed investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination as per legal procedure.
Investigators are examining eyewitness accounts, the damaged vehicle, and other forensic evidence to determine the exact cause of the collision. Authorities have not yet issued a final report regarding whether speeding, mechanical failure, or any other factor contributed to the accident.

Another Tragedy for Atiq Ahmed's Family
The latest accident marks another tragic chapter for the family of Atiq Ahmed, whose name remained at the centre of several high-profile criminal investigations in Uttar Pradesh.
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj in April 2023 while being escorted by police for a medical examination. Earlier that month, another son, Asad Ahmed, was killed during an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force near Jhansi.
Ali Ahmed continues to remain in judicial custody, while Aban Ahmed's death further adds to the series of tragedies that have affected the family in recent years.
Authorities Maintain Security
Following the accident, police strengthened security arrangements around the hospital where the injured were admitted and near Jhansi jail as a precautionary measure. Officials said the situation remains under control and there has been no disruption to public order.
