Police have arrested three accused in the Ramanagara stone quarry collapse case as the hunt continues for the absconding quarry owners following the death of seven workers
The Tavarekere Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the Ramanagara quarry tragedy that claimed seven lives and left five others injured. An FIR has been registered alleging negligence, while police have intensified efforts to trace the absconding owners of the crusher units and other accused linked to the fatal rock collapse.
Ramanagara: The investigation into the Ramanagara quarry tragedy, in which seven labourers lost their lives after a massive rock collapsed at a stone quarry in Madapattana village, has gathered pace with the arrest of three accused. The Tavarekere Police have taken the trio into custody on charges of negligence while launching an intensive search for the absconding quarry owners believed to be responsible for the incident.
The accident occurred on Thursday morning at the Cauvery Quarry under the jurisdiction of Tavarekere Police Station in Bengaluru South (Ramanagara) taluk, where a massive boulder suddenly crashed onto workers engaged in quarry operations.

Three Arrested in Ramanagara Stone Quarry Collapse Case
Acting swiftly after the incident, the police arrested Panduranga, owner of Sai Ram Crusher, Lokesh, the crusher and quarry in-charge, and Raju, the local in-charge of Kaveri Crusher.
The arrests followed the registration of a case based on a complaint filed by Gopikrishnan T., one of the workers who survived the fatal rock collapse.
"An FIR has been registered on the complaint of survivor Gopikrishnan T., and three accused have been arrested in connection with the incident."
Investigators are probing whether mandatory safety protocols were ignored during quarry operations, leading to the fatal accident.
Seven Workers Killed in Madapattana Quarry Tragedy
According to Central Zone IGP S. Girish, a total of 16 labourers were working at the bottom of the quarry when the massive rock suddenly gave way and crashed onto them.
The victims who died in the accident have been identified as:
- Ramu (46)
- Rajpal Singh (35)
- Satyanarayan Singh (31)
- Ram Watar Singh (31)
- Rajendra Prasad
- Noohar Singh
- Bhuvaneshwar Singh
All seven workers died on the spot after being trapped beneath the huge boulder.
The impact of the collapse also completely destroyed three tractors operating at the quarry site.
Five Injured, One Critical After Quarry Accident
Five injured workers, identified as Gulab Singh, Rajpal, Chotu, Noohar Singh, and Anand, were rushed to RR Hospital on Mysore Road for treatment.
Hospital sources said one of the injured remains in critical condition, while the others continue to receive medical care.
The authorities are closely monitoring their condition as the investigation progresses.
Police Hunt for Absconding Quarry Owners
While three accused have been arrested, the police are continuing their search for the remaining suspects.
The main owner of Kaveri Crusher, Uday Shankar, Basaveshwara Crusher owner D. Anandaswamy, and Hitachi machine operator Tirupati are currently absconding.
Police teams have launched a manhunt to trace the accused and bring them before the law.
"Police have intensified the investigation and laid a trap to arrest the absconding quarry owners and other accused linked to the tragedy."
Officials indicated that further arrests are likely as the investigation uncovers the circumstances that led to the deadly collapse.
Negligence Angle Under Investigation
Investigators are examining whether quarry operators violated safety regulations and whether adequate precautions were taken before allowing workers to operate beneath unstable rock formations.
