The Supreme Court Registrar has rejected actor Darshan's petition seeking modification of the bail order, stating that the plea is not fit for hearing

Actor Darshan has suffered another legal setback in the Renukaswamy murder case after the Supreme Court Registrar rejected his petition seeking modification of the apex court's earlier bail order. The plea, which sought permission to apply for bail in emergency situations, was dismissed at the scrutiny stage without being listed for hearing.

New Delhi: Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has received another setback in the Renukaswamy murder case, with the Supreme Court Registrar rejecting his petition seeking modification of the apex court's earlier order restricting him from applying for bail for one year.

The petition was dismissed at the preliminary stage, with the Registrar observing that it was "not fit for hearing", preventing it from being listed before the Supreme Court Bench.

Supreme Court Registrar Rejects Darshan Thoogudeepa's Bail Modification Plea

Darshan had approached the Supreme Court seeking permission to apply for bail in emergency situations and requesting modification of the court's earlier order that barred him from filing a fresh bail application for one year.

However, the Registrar rejected the petition during the scrutiny process itself.

"The petition is not fit for hearing," the Supreme Court Registrar observed while rejecting the application.

The Registrar also directed Darshan's legal team that the petition could not be listed before the court for consideration.

Background of the Supreme Court's Bail Order in Renukaswamy Murder Case

The latest development follows the Supreme Court's earlier order in the Renukaswamy murder case, in which the court declined to grant Darshan bail and imposed restrictions on filing a fresh bail application.

During the earlier hearing, the apex court had observed that if approximately 60 prosecution witnesses were not examined within one year, Darshan could thereafter seek bail.

Until then, the court had effectively barred him from filing another regular bail application.

Darshan had earlier been granted bail on medical grounds and remained out of custody for a brief period before the Supreme Court cancelled the relief.

Petition Sought Emergency Bail Provision in Renukaswamy Murder Case

In the latest petition, Darshan requested the Supreme Court to permit him to seek bail under exceptional or emergency circumstances despite the restrictions imposed in the earlier order.

He also sought modification of the previous directions relating to his eligibility to apply for bail.

However, the petition failed to clear the preliminary scrutiny process and was rejected before any judicial hearing could take place.

Change in Darshan's Legal Team

The latest legal move comes shortly after changes were made to Darshan's legal representation.

Senior advocate Sunil Kumar, who had earlier represented Darshan and two other accused in the case, has withdrawn from the proceedings.

The actor is now being represented by Hashmat Pasha, who filed the latest petition before the Supreme Court on Darshan's behalf.

Despite the change in legal counsel, the attempt to secure relief from the apex court has not succeeded.

"The petition seeking modification of the earlier bail order was rejected at the scrutiny stage and was not listed for hearing."

Actor Darshan Continues in Judicial Custody in Renukaswamy Murder Case

Darshan continues to remain in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

The criminal trial is progressing, with the examination of prosecution witnesses continuing before the trial court. The outcome of the trial and the pace of witness examination are expected to influence any future bail proceedings, subject to the Supreme Court's earlier directions.
