A rental dispute in Hubballi has escalated into a criminal case after a house owner accused his tenants of refusing to vacate the property even after six months and allegedly issuing death threats. A case has been registered at Bendigeri Police Station, and the matter is under investigation.


Hubballi: A house owner in Hubballi has approached the police alleging that his tenants have refused to vacate his property despite repeated requests over the past six months and have allegedly threatened to kill him and his family. The dispute, which began as a tenancy issue, has now turned into a police case involving allegations of criminal intimidation and other offences.


The incident has been reported from Veerapur Lane in Hubballi, where the complainant, Yellappa Kallimani, claims that he and his family have been living in fear due to the alleged actions of the tenants.


Hubballi Rental Dispute Escalates Into Criminal Case

According to the complaint, Yellappa Kallimani rented out his house to Mahima Gaikwad and Gautam Gaikwad in January last year. The tenants were initially allowed to occupy the house for a limited period.


However, Kallimani has alleged that despite repeated requests, the couple has not vacated the premises for the past six months and has instead resorted to threatening and intimidating his family.


The complainant has further alleged that the accused threatened to kill him at knifepoint after he demanded that they vacate the house.

"The tenants have not vacated the house despite repeated requests and allegedly threatened the landlord's family after being asked to leave," the complaint states.

Hubballi House Owner Alleges False Theft Case

The complainant's family has also alleged that the tenants falsely accused them of stealing ₹80,000 in cash and one tola of gold after being asked to vacate the rented accommodation.

According to the family, the allegations were made to pressure them and complicate the ongoing tenancy dispute.

The police are expected to examine these claims as part of the investigation.


Case Registered at Bendigeri Police Station in Hubballi

Based on the complaint, Bendigeri Police Station has registered a case against Gautam Gaikwad and Mahima Gaikwad.


Police officials have begun investigating the allegations, including claims of criminal intimidation and the circumstances surrounding the tenancy dispute.


Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific sections under which the case has been registered.


CCTV Footage Raises Fresh Questions

The complainant has also alleged that unidentified persons locked the house from outside during the night after the family had gone indoors.


According to the family, the incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, raising further suspicion regarding the alleged harassment.


Investigators are expected to examine the CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events and verify the allegations made by the complainant.

"The CCTV footage will form part of the investigation to establish the facts surrounding the alleged intimidation," sources said.

Hubballi Police Investigation Underway

The rental dispute has now evolved into a criminal investigation involving allegations of illegal occupation, intimidation, and false accusations.


Police have stated that the matter is under investigation and that the truth behind the allegations will be established after examining evidence, recording statements from both parties, and completing the inquiry.


Officials have urged the public not to speculate until the investigation is concluded.
