Three members of a family lost their lives in a head-on collision near Huliyaru, while a separate road accident in Ballari claimed the lives of a father and son
Tumakuru: Three members of a family were killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between two cars near Huliyaru village in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk of Tumakuru district on Wednesday.
According to police, the victims are believed to be residents of Andhra Pradesh. The injured have been admitted to the District Hospital in Tumakuru, where they are undergoing treatment.
The accident occurred when an Omni car travelling from Hiriyur towards Huliyaru collided with another car coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the crash was so severe that the Omni vehicle overturned by the roadside.
Three Killed in Huliyaru Road Accident
Police said three occupants of the Omni car, including an elderly couple, died on the spot due to the force of the collision. Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene and assisted in rescue operations.
Officials from the Huliyaru Police Station visited the accident site and conducted a preliminary inspection. The bodies of the deceased were later shifted to the Huliyaru Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered at Huliyaru Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
“The injured victims have been shifted to hospital, and a detailed investigation has been initiated into the circumstances leading to the collision,” police sources said.
Father and Son Killed in Ballari Mining Lorry Accident
In a separate road accident reported from Ballari district, a father and son lost their lives after a mining lorry collided with their motorcycle near Chinnibasappa Camp on Kumaraswamy Temple Road in Sandur taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Belli Nagaraja (45), a watchman employed by a mining company, and his son Duragesh (22).
According to police, Duragesh was taking his father to work on a motorcycle when a speeding mining lorry allegedly rammed into the vehicle. Nagaraja died on the spot, while Duragesh sustained critical injuries and later succumbed during treatment at a hospital.
Police Launch Investigation into Ballari Crash
Police personnel visited the accident site, inspected the scene, and initiated legal proceedings. A case has been registered under the jurisdiction of Sandur Police Station.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision, including allegations of rash and negligent driving by the lorry driver.
The two tragic accidents have once again highlighted growing concerns over road safety and fatal traffic incidents across Karnataka.
