Police in Tumakuru arrested three accused after they allegedly murdered a man and tried to portray the crime as a drunken death linked to grief over his late wife
Tumakuru: In a horrifying family crime that has stunned Karnataka, a mother and son allegedly joined hands with their deceased daughter’s lover to murder their own son-in-law in Tumakuru district. The accused reportedly killed the victim and then attempted to pass off the death as a drunken collapse caused by depression after his wife’s demise.
The shocking incident took place in Dandipura village of Madhugiri taluk, where 32-year-old Narasimhamurthy was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Following the investigation, Kodigenahalli police arrested three accused, who later allegedly confessed to the murder during questioning.
Victim Opposed Frequent Visits by Wife’s Alleged Lover
Police sources said Narasimhamurthy had married Sujatha a few years ago after a love marriage with family approval. After marriage, Sujatha joined a garments company where she became acquainted with a man named Amar.
Investigators suspect that the friendship later turned into an illicit relationship. During this period, Sujatha gave birth to a baby boy. However, she reportedly died due to illness a few months ago.
After losing his wife, Narasimhamurthy became addicted to alcohol and was said to be emotionally broken. Meanwhile, Amar allegedly believed the male child was his and continued visiting Sujatha’s family house regularly.
This reportedly created tension, as Narasimhamurthy strongly objected to Amar’s repeated visits and had frequent arguments with Sujatha’s mother Jayamma over the matter.
Chicken Party Trap Turned Deadly
Police said the family dispute escalated into a deadly conspiracy. According to the complaint, Jayamma informed Amar about the arguments and allegedly joined hands with her son Nandeesh to eliminate Narasimhamurthy.
As part of the plan, the accused allegedly invited the victim home under the pretext of a chicken party and made him consume alcohol.
Later, Amar and Nandeesh reportedly took Narasimhamurthy in an auto-rickshaw to a deserted location, where they allegedly strangled him with a rope.
The body was then dumped near a roadside spot close to a flex banner of his late wife, Sujatha, allegedly to make it appear that he died there in grief after drinking heavily.
“The accused allegedly staged the scene to look like an accidental drunken death.”
Doctors Exposed Murder Mystery
The accused then reportedly acted as if the victim was unconscious and themselves shifted him to the Kodigenahalli Primary Health Centre. On doctors’ advice, he was taken to Madhugiri Government Hospital, where he was declared dead.
During the examination, doctors noticed black marks around the neck and bleeding from the left ear, indicating that it was not a natural death.
This immediately raised suspicion and led to a formal complaint by the victim’s sister, Gayathri.
Accused Confesses During Interrogation
Following police custody and questioning, the three accused allegedly confessed to the murder plot. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
