Technology meets democracy as a robot greets voters at the polling booth, adding a unique and surprising touch to the voting experience
Puducherry: In a remarkable blend of technology and democracy, voters in Puducherry were greeted by a robot named ‘Neela’ as polling began for the Vidhansabha elections across two states and one Union Territory.
As polling commenced early in the morning, voters arriving at a government school polling booth were met with an unexpected sight. A robot named Neela stood at the entrance, welcoming them with flowers and sweets, creating a buzz among the public.
Robot ‘Neela’ Becomes Centre of Attraction
The innovative initiative instantly grabbed attention as Neela greeted voters with a smile-like gesture, offering flowers and sweets. The robot’s presence not only surprised voters but also added an element of excitement to the otherwise routine voting process.
“This is something we have never seen before. It made the voting experience memorable,” said a voter at the polling station.
Technology Enhancing Democratic Experience
Installed at a government school polling centre, the robot symbolises the growing role of technology in public engagement. Officials believe such initiatives can encourage voter participation and make the electoral process more interactive and welcoming.
