What began as a family dispute in Maharashtra escalates into serious allegations as a minor’s complaint prompts police action and investigation
Palghar: In a deeply troubling domestic case from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a teenage girl reportedly left her home after accusing her mother of showing preferential treatment toward her younger brother. What initially appeared to be a family conflict soon took a darker turn when the girl’s 12-year-old younger sister approached police with serious allegations against the same brother.
According to reports, the teenage girl had allegedly been upset for a long time over what she described as unfair treatment inside the family. She reportedly claimed that her mother consistently gave preference to her brother while ignoring the daughters in the household. Following repeated arguments, the girl is said to have left home, prompting concern among family members.
However, the matter intensified when the younger sister later lodged a complaint with police, making disturbing accusations of prolonged abuse by the brother. Authorities immediately took cognisance of the complaint and began legal proceedings.
How the Case Escalated
Police sources said the 12-year-old girl informed officials that she had allegedly faced abuse for an extended period. She also claimed that the accused had threatened her repeatedly, preventing her from speaking openly about the incidents.
Investigators are now examining all claims made by the minor and gathering statements from family members. Officials are also trying to determine whether warning signs inside the household had been ignored earlier.
“The complaint of the minor girl has been registered, and the matter is under investigation,” police sources reportedly stated.

Based on the complaint, police reportedly registered a formal case and took the accused youth into custody for questioning. Authorities said all legal procedures involving minors are being followed, and further investigation is underway.
The teenage girl who had earlier left home was later traced, according to sources. Officials are also looking into the family environment that may have led to the crisis.
