Abdul Jabbar Voices Anger After Stepping Down as KPCC Minority Wing Chief Amid Internal Party Turmoil
Bengaluru: Karnataka politics witnessed fresh drama after senior Indian National Congress leader Abdul Jabbar publicly expressed disappointment following his resignation as president of the KPCC Minority Wing. His sharp reaction comes amid growing reports of internal friction linked to the Davanagere by-election campaign.
Speaking in Bengaluru, Abdul Jabbar questioned the circumstances that led to his exit, asking, “What mistake did I commit?” He stated that he had already submitted his resignation on April 3 and would remain committed to any decision taken by the party high command.
His statement has intensified speculation over factional struggles within the state unit.
Strong Message to Party Rivals
Without naming anyone directly, Jabbar criticised internal power games and warned against attempts to pull others down for personal gain.
“Too much cleverness is not good. Do not work to bring others down,” he reportedly said.
He further questioned why the party had given him responsibility earlier if he was considered unfit now.
No Exit from Congress, Says Jabbar
Despite expressing frustration, Abdul Jabbar clarified that he has no intention of leaving the Congress party or joining another political outfit. He said he continues to believe in the party’s principles and justice.
Ministerial Position Row Mentioned
Jabbar also claimed that some leaders were allegedly creating divisions only to secure ministerial posts. He said he never demanded a ministerial berth for himself, but had raised the issue of fair representation for minorities.
Ticket Distribution Question Sparks Debate
Referring to the by-election, he stated that no senior leader consulted him. He also questioned ticket allocation patterns, saying opportunities should be shared across communities rather than concentrated within one family.
Mention of Zameer Ahmed Khan
He further claimed that after Zameer Ahmed Khan entered the scene, opposition within sections of the party had reduced significantly.
Fresh Pressure on Karnataka Congress
The remarks have exposed deeper fault lines within the Karnataka Congress at a sensitive political moment. Whether the high command responds or seeks damage control remains to be seen.
