53-year-old returns from the Gulf, ends life after a minor domestic dispute in Andhra Pradesh; the incident raises concerns over stress, anger, and mental health awareness

Kadapa: In a deeply disturbing incident reflecting rising mental stress and emotional fragility, a 53-year-old man allegedly died by suicide following a minor domestic argument over spilt milk in Kadapa district.

The deceased has been identified as Venkata Subbaiah (53), who had recently returned from working in Gulf countries and was living with his wife and two daughters in Balajinagar. What began as a routine day at home ended in tragedy after a seemingly trivial dispute escalated uncontrollably.

Minor Dispute Turns Fatal
According to local reports, the incident occurred on Sunday when Subbaiah’s wife, Anuradha, had placed milk on the stove but got occupied with other work. The milk boiled over and spilt, triggering an argument between the couple.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Subbaiah, in a fit of anger, began shouting and even hit his head against the wall, injuring himself. Alarmed by his aggressive behaviour, Anuradha stepped out of the house temporarily to allow the situation to calm down.

Tragedy Unfolds Within Minutes
However, moments after she left, Subbaiah allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan inside the house. When Anuradha returned, she found him unresponsive, leading to panic in the neighbourhood.

Residents rushed to help after hearing her cries, but Subbaiah had already died.

“A case has been registered and investigation is underway,” said Mohammad Rafi, the investigating officer.

Family Left in Shock
The sudden death has left the family shattered, with two daughters losing their father in a matter of minutes over what appeared to be a minor issue. Neighbours described Subbaiah as a hardworking man who had recently returned with hopes of rebuilding his life.

Rising Concern Over Mental Stress
The incident has once again highlighted the growing impact of stress, anger, and lack of emotional resilience in society. Experts often warn that unchecked anger and impulsive reactions can lead to irreversible consequences, especially in high-stress domestic environments.

Authorities have urged citizens to seek help, stay calm during conflicts, and prioritise mental well-being, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
