Blaze erupts in cable trays and switch boxes at Terminal 1B, fire officials confirm situation under control
Mumbai: Panic gripped passengers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport after a fire broke out inside Terminal 1B on Thursday evening, prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambalgekar, the blaze was reported in the cable trays and switch boxes located within the terminal premises. The fire was confined to the ground floor area, preventing it from spreading further.

Upon receiving the alert, teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and ward staff rushed to the location and initiated firefighting operations. Their swift action ensured that the situation was brought under control in time.
“The fire was limited to the ground floor and has now been controlled,” officials confirmed.
