Deadly road accident in Bhilwara district leaves a family shattered while returning from temple visit; police cite overspeeding as primary cause

Jaipur: A devastating road accident in Rajasthan claimed the lives of a father and his son and left four other family members injured after a speeding car plunged off a bridge in Bhilwara district, police confirmed on Sunday.

According to officials, the tragic incident occurred near Vijay Gaushala under the jurisdiction of the Gulabpura police station. The vehicle reportedly lost control due to high speed and fell from the bridge, resulting in fatal consequences for two occupants.

The deceased have been identified as Naurat Jangid (50) and his son Kalu Jangid (25). Police said Kalu was driving the car at the time of the accident. The impact proved fatal for both, while four other family members sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Victims were returning from a temple visit
Gulabpura Station House Officer Sanjay Gurjar stated that the family was returning home after offering prayers at the famous Sanwaliya Seth Temple in Chittorgarh.

The victims were residents of Lamba Harisingh town in Tonk district and were travelling together when the accident occurred. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Police statement
“We suspect the car was being driven at a very high speed. The driver lost control near the bridge, leading to the fatal fall,” said Gulabpura SHO Sanjay Gurjar, adding that further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events.
Condition of the injured
Police officials confirmed that the injured family members are currently undergoing treatment, and their condition is being closely monitored. A case has been registered, and authorities are examining technical and forensic aspects related to the crash.
