Haveri: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves across the district, a newlywed couple lost their lives on the spot after their car rammed into a stationary lorry on National Highway-48 near Kadahalli village in Shiggaon taluk of Haveri. The deceased have been identified as Karthik Hoogar (34) and Aishwarya (30), residents of Haveri city.

According to preliminary information from police and local sources, the couple had gotten married just 15 days ago and had visited a temple to seek blessings before formally beginning their married life. While returning home after the temple visit on Friday night (February 28), their journey ended in an unimaginable tragedy.

Accident Details: High-Speed Car Rams Stationary Lorry
The couple was travelling in a WagonR (KA-63 M-0522) from Hubballi towards Shiggaon. Reports indicate that the car was moving at a high speed when it crashed into the rear of a lorry parked on the national highway. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, killing both occupants on the spot.

Fire Services Rush to the Spot, Bodies Retrieved
Upon receiving information, fire and emergency services personnel, along with local residents, rushed to the accident site and carried out a rescue operation to retrieve the bodies trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
“The impact was extremely severe. The vehicle was crushed beyond recognition, leaving no chance of survival,” a local eyewitness.
Two Others Critically Injured, Shifted to Hospital
Two other passengers travelling in the same car sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to KIMS Hospital. Doctors treating the injured have confirmed that their condition remains critical.

Police Investigation Underway
Following the incident, Tadas Police visited the scene, conducted a spot inspection, and registered a case. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether poor visibility, overspeeding, or negligence played a role.
