Special Investigation Team reveals explosive details in viral video case linked to Prajwal Revanna; BJP and Congress workers among accused

Hassan: In a major development in one of Karnataka’s most controversial cases, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a massive 13,712-page chargesheet in connection with the viral video case linked to former MP Prajwal Revanna. The chargesheet was submitted before a senior civil court in Hassan.

39 Accused Named in Chargesheet
According to SIT officials, a total of 52 individuals were examined, out of which 39 have been formally charged. The case was initially registered based on a complaint filed by advocate Poornachandra, who was reportedly associated with a political party during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Mass Distribution of Pen Drives Exposed
The investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly purchased around 70 pen drives in Hassan to circulate the objectionable videos. The SIT recorded statements from 277 witnesses and relied on technical and forensic evidence to build the case.

Political Links Surface
In a significant revelation, the chargesheet includes names of individuals linked to both major political parties, including workers associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress.

Among the accused are individuals identified as Naveen (A1), Karthik N (A2), Chetan B C (A3), Chetan Y S (A4), and Likhith Gowda (A5), along with several others.
The SIT has confirmed allegations that videos were recorded without consent using mobile phones and later distributed via pen drives. Investigators also found evidence that some accused shared the content directly through their devices.
The case has raised serious concerns about privacy violations and misuse of technology.

What About Prajwal Revanna?
Although Prajwal Revanna’s name has been associated with the case, reports indicate that his name has not been included in this specific chargesheet, leaving questions about future legal proceedings.

Next Legal Steps Awaited
With the filing of the chargesheet, the focus now shifts to court proceedings, where the evidence presented by the SIT will be examined in detail.
