Shocking incident in Chennai as woman suffers permanent eye damage; accused husband on the run

Chennai: In a disturbing incident, a 29-year-old woman was attacked with acid by her husband in Chennai, leaving her with permanent loss of vision in one eye. The accused is currently absconding, and police have launched a search operation.

Victim and Accused Identified
The victim has been identified as Sana Fatima (29), while the accused husband is Mohammed Ali, a resident of Anakaputhur. The couple got married in 2020 and has a four-year-old son.
According to reports, Mohammed Ali was addicted to alcohol and frequently subjected his wife to physical and mental harassment. Due to the ongoing abuse, Sana Fatima had moved to her mother’s house and had filed for divorce in court.
Attack Triggered by Divorce Move
Enraged by her legal action, Mohammed Ali allegedly carried out the attack on March 15, when the victim was walking alone near her mother’s residence in Pallavaram.

He reportedly brought toilet-cleaning acid and threw it directly on her face.

Victim Sustains Severe Injuries
Despite her attempts to escape, the accused chased and continued the assault. Local residents intervened and rushed her to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
The acid severely affected her left eye, resulting in permanent loss of vision, doctors confirmed.
The incident highlights the extreme consequences of domestic violence and the urgent need for stronger protection mechanisms.

Police Action Underway
Police from Pallavaram Police Station have registered a case and are conducting an intensive search to trace the accused.
Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken once the accused is arrested.
