Village Clash Over Property and Jewellery Turns Deadly, Accused in Critical Condition at Lucknow Hospital
Bahraich: In a gruesome incident that has shaken Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly killed his father, mother, sister, and grandmother over a money dispute in a village in Bahraich district, police said on Monday. The horrifying attack occurred around midnight on Sunday in Ramgaon village of Rudal, Basantpur.
Fight Over Land and Jewellery Ends in Bloodshed
The accused, identified as Nirankar (30), reportedly had an argument with his father over money from the sale of land and jewellery, which escalated into a fatal attack, killing four family members, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari told reporters.
Brother Attacked, Accused Self-Harms
Nirankar also attacked his brother, Gurudev, who later filed a complaint leading to the registration of a police case. During the incident, the accused repeatedly hit himself with a brick, sustaining serious injuries.
“The accused attacked his family members with an axe in a fit of anger, causing fatal injuries. Immediate medical attention was provided, but unfortunately, four succumbed to their injuries,” an official said.
Victims Identified
The deceased has been identified as:
- Badlu Ram (60) – Father
- Sanju Devi (56) – Mother
- Parvati (around 42) – Daughter
- Sitala (80) – Grandmother
Gurudev reported that the accused attacked him with an axe, intending to kill, but he survived.
Accused in Critical Condition
The police took Nirankar into custody at the scene and admitted him to the district hospital in Bahraich. Given the seriousness of his injuries, he was transferred to Lucknow for further treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
