A heated family property dispute in Dhoopanahalli allegedly escalated into a deadly assault, prompting police action, arrests, and a manhunt for the second accused
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the city, a 70-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own sons following a long-simmering property dispute in Dhoopanahalli, located in the Indiranagar area. The deceased has been identified as Munikrishna, a local resident who succumbed to severe head injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital, according to police sources.
What Led to the Fatal Assault
Police said the incident occurred on Saturday, when Munikrishna reportedly got into a heated argument with his sons, Mohan Kumar and Gajendra, over the division of family property. The argument allegedly escalated into a physical scuffle, during which the two sons severely assaulted their father, repeatedly hitting him on the head.
Hospitalisation and Death
Following the assault, Munikrishna was rushed to a private hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical intervention, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries late Saturday night. Preliminary information suggests complications arising from the seriousness of the head injuries.
Police Action and Arrest
The case falls under the jurisdiction of Indiranagar Police Station. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case of murder and arrested Mohan Kumar in connection with the crime. Efforts are currently underway to trace the second accused, Gajendra, who remains absconding.
“A case has been registered, one accused has been arrested, and special teams have been formed to apprehend the second accused at the earliest,” a senior police officer said.

Investigators are examining the family’s property records, statements from neighbours, and medical reports to establish the sequence of events leading to the fatal incident. Police officials stated that further legal action would follow based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
