Fresh Findings Contradict Initial Claims; FSL Report from Bengaluru Awaited

Mangaluru: New developments have emerged in the Ramakunja gunshot case after a medical report confirmed that the teenager involved had shot his father before dying by suicide.

The incident took place on January 24 at a residence in Ramakunja village. Moksh (17), son of Vasanth Ameen and Jayashree, residents of Paade in Ramakunja, died from a gunshot wound at their home. Initial reports suggested that the boy had shot himself following a domestic dispute.

However, subsequent medical examination revealed that his father, Vasanth Ameen, had also sustained a gunshot injury. When the case first surfaced, it was alleged that Moksh had stabbed his father in the abdomen with a knife during a quarrel and later used his father’s licensed SBBL gun to shoot himself.

Doctors treating Vasanth Ameen at a private hospital in Mangaluru have now confirmed that his abdominal injury was caused by a bullet and not a knife, contradicting the earlier account. He has since recovered and been discharged.

Police officials stated that the forensic report from the Forensic Science Laboratory Bengaluru is still awaited. The final conclusion of the case will depend on the forensic findings.

It may be recalled that Moksh’s mother, Jayashree, had earlier filed a complaint alleging that her husband was responsible for their son’s death. With the new medical findings, investigators say additional angles have surfaced, and the exact sequence of events will become clearer once the FSL report is received. Further investigation is ongoing.
