After California Tragedy, Another Dakshina Kannada Youth Dies Abroad; Irish Police Launch Investigation into ‘Apparent Suicide’

Dublin: In a shocking development that has sent ripples through Karnataka’s coastal belt, a 31-year-old man from Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada district was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Ireland. The deceased has been identified as Sanjo Sunil, a native of Vimalagiri in Kutrapadi village, who had moved abroad for employment.

The incident comes close on the heels of another reported death of a Kannadiga in California, United States, intensifying concerns among families of expatriates from the state.

According to sources, Sanjo Sunil was residing in a rented accommodation in the Charles Town area of Finglas in Dublin. His body was discovered inside his residence earlier this week. While preliminary reports suggest the death appears to be a suicide, authorities have not ruled out other possibilities.

Irish Police Begin Investigation

Law enforcement officials in Ireland have initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. A post-mortem examination is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause.

Police sources indicated that further legal procedures are being followed as part of standard protocol in cases of unnatural death. The investigation will determine whether any external factors contributed to the tragedy.

Family in Shock; Repatriation Efforts Likely

It is learnt that his wife went into severe shock and fell ill after receiving the devastating news. Family sources indicated that they are likely to seek assistance from Indian authorities and community organisations to facilitate the repatriation of his mortal remains to India.

Rising Concerns Over Expat Safety

The back-to-back reports of Kannadigas dying abroad have sparked renewed discussions about the emotional and psychological challenges faced by migrant workers and professionals living overseas. Community members have urged authorities to extend support mechanisms for families dealing with sudden tragedies abroad. Irish authorities are expected to release further details following the completion of the post-mortem and investigation.
