46-year-old woman found dead after domestic argument; daughter accuses father and brother, while both deny charges as investigation continues
Mysuru: A tragic domestic incident has come to light from Saraswathipuram in Mysuru, where a 46-year-old woman was found dead at her residence following a family dispute over a proposed leisure trip. The case has taken a serious turn after the deceased woman’s daughter accused her father and brother of harassment, prompting the police to begin a detailed investigation.
Victim Identified, Family Background
The deceased has been identified as Sandhya (46), a native of Bengaluru, who married Ranganath, a resident of Chamarajanagar district, around 25 years ago. The couple has two children — Srishti, their daughter who is currently pursuing higher education abroad, and Kaushik (17), their son who lives with his parents in Mysuru.
Argument Preceded the Incident, Say Police
According to preliminary information shared by the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night after a heated argument between the couple regarding a planned trip. Following the quarrel, Ranganath and his son reportedly left the house. When they returned later, Sandhya was found unresponsive in her bedroom. She was declared dead at the scene, after which local residents alerted the authorities.
A case has been registered at Saraswathipuram Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Daughter Levels Serious Allegations
After receiving news of her mother’s death, Srishti returned from abroad and lodged a complaint making serious allegations against her father and brother. She alleged that her mother had been continuously harassed, mentally tortured, and subjected to financial pressure and suspicion.
According to Srishti, her father frequently doubted her mother and demanded money, while her brother allegedly supported and followed their father’s actions. She demanded strict legal action against both and insisted that her maternal uncle should perform the last rites instead of her father or brother.
Father Rejects Claims, Cites Property Transfer
Ranganath has categorically denied all allegations. He stated that while an argument did occur over the travel plan, he did not harm his wife in any manner. He further claimed that he had previously supported Sandhya’s travels, including international trips, and dismissed accusations of financial harassment.
He also stated that nearly 90% of his property had already been transferred in his wife’s name, asserting that the allegations were unfounded.
“We have nothing to hide. The investigation and forensic reports will bring out the truth,” Ranganath told police officials.
Son Defends Father, Cites Exam Pressure
Kaushik, the couple’s 17-year-old son, who claims to be an eyewitness to the events leading up to the incident, also defended his father. He stated that his mother became emotionally upset when his father suggested postponing the trip due to his upcoming examinations, which may have deeply affected her state of mind.
Police Conducting Detailed Inquiry
The Saraswathipuram Police have confirmed that a case has been registered and that a comprehensive investigation is in progress. This includes forensic examination, witness statements, and scrutiny of the allegations made by both sides to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Officials stated that appropriate legal action would be taken based on evidence and investigation findings.
