Mandya: In a shocking incident of violence reported from Dinka village in Pandavapura taluk, a youth was allegedly brutally assaulted by a group of five persons, with police later booking 14 accused in connection with the attack. The victim sustained serious injuries, including a fractured leg, after being beaten with stones and sticks. A video of the assault has reportedly surfaced, intensifying outrage in the area.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on February 22 around 3 pm near Kanaganahalli, just before Chinakurali on the K.R. Pete–Mysuru main road. Based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR has been registered at the Pandavapura Police Station under multiple sections, including unlawful assembly and attempt to murder.

What the FIR States

In his complaint, the victim stated that he was riding his aunt’s son Nandish’s motorcycle toward Chinakurali when he and his friend Naveen were intercepted by a group of men allegedly armed with sticks and stones. The accused reportedly arrived in a car and on a motorcycle and formed an unlawful assembly to block their path.

Sensing danger, the two youths abandoned their bikes and attempted to flee toward Marasanahalli through nearby agricultural fields. However, Naveen allegedly slipped and fell, after which several of the accused reportedly began assaulting him.

The complainant stated that he, too, was chased, caught, and beaten severely. One of the accused allegedly struck him on the back of his head with a stick, while another attacked his right leg, causing a bleeding injury and fracture. He further alleged that another assailant inserted a stick into his mouth during the assault, and yet another struck his left leg.

The attackers allegedly threatened him with death, warning that he would not be spared in the future.

Rescue and Medical Treatment

The assault reportedly came to an end when residents of Morasanahalli intervened and rescued the injured youth. Both victims were initially taken to the Government Hospital in Pandavapura by ambulance.

Following medical examination, doctors advised further treatment, and the injured were later shifted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru for advanced care.

Police Action and Investigation

Based on the detailed complaint, police have registered a case against 14 individuals named in the FIR. Authorities are currently verifying the sequence of events, examining the alleged video evidence, and recording statements from witnesses.

Senior officials stated that stringent action will be taken against those found guilty. The motive behind the attack is under investigation, with initial reports suggesting a prior dispute may have led to the violence.
