Commissioner’s Office Highlights 5–7 Minute Hoysala Response Time; Tele-MANAS Calls Now Linked to City Police Command Centre

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Police have reinforced their public emergency response system ‘Namma 112’, ensuring faster on-ground assistance and integrating the helpline with mental health services in collaboration with NIMHANS.

According to an official press note issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, the Namma 112 public helpline functions independently under the Command Centre and is designed to provide immediate assistance to citizens facing emergencies or distress.

5–7 Minute Hoysala Response Across City

Police stated that whenever a citizen calls the Namma 112 helpline, Hoysala patrol officers are dispatched and typically reach the complainant’s location within approximately five to seven minutes. Officers interact directly with the caller and attempt to resolve the issue on the spot.

If the matter cannot be settled immediately, complainants are guided to approach the concerned police station, meet the Station House Officer, or contact the relevant department for further action.

The department noted a significant rise in the number of calls received in recent months compared to previous years. Officials said that a majority of complaints are now being resolved at the spot, reflecting improved operational efficiency. In recognition of prompt service and effective grievance handling, police personnel are being awarded commendation letters.

Integration With Tele-MANAS for Mental Health Support

Authorities revealed that a growing number of calls received on Namma 112 relate to mental stress and psychological distress. In response, Bengaluru Police have integrated the helpline with the Tele-MANAS mental health support system in collaboration with NIMHANS.

Under this arrangement, calls concerning mental health issues are transferred to the Tele-MANAS helpline along with relevant event details for counselling support. Similarly, if Tele-MANAS receives calls requiring police intervention, they are directly routed to Namma 112 for immediate action.

After resolving reported issues, Hoysala officers conduct follow-up calls from the Command Centre to gather feedback from complainants. Police emphasized that all personal details of callers remain strictly confidential.

Officials stated that members of the public have expressed appreciation for the swift response and resolution mechanism provided through Namma 112.
