FIR Registered After Advocate Accuses Constable and Two Men of Assault, Phone Snatching, and Deleting Evidence Under Cubbon Park Police Jurisdiction
Bengaluru: A serious allegation of police misconduct has surfaced in central Bengaluru, where a lawyer was allegedly assaulted by a police constable and two unidentified men after objecting to an act of public urination. The incident occurred on Church Street, a prominent commercial hub in the city, and falls under the jurisdiction of the Cubbon Park Police Station. Following a formal complaint, an FIR has been registered, and police have initiated an investigation.
Assault Took Place on Night of July 6
As per the complaint, the incident took place on July 6 at around 9 pm, when Advocate Adarsh, who has his office on Church Street, was returning home after finishing work for the day.
Advocate Objected to Public Urination
According to the advocate, while passing through the parking lot of his office building, he allegedly saw Constable Satish urinating in public. Adarsh objected to the act and told the constable not to engage in public indecency.
Photograph Taken as Evidence
The advocate stated that he clicked a photograph of the constable on his mobile phone to document the incident.
Phone Allegedly Snatched, Photo Deleted
The situation reportedly escalated when Constable Satish and two men accompanying him allegedly snatched the advocate’s mobile phone and forcibly deleted the photograph.
Lawyer Alleges Physical Assault
In his complaint, Advocate Adarsh alleged that he was physically assaulted following the argument. He further claimed that the two men accompanying the constable were consuming alcohol at the time of the incident.
“I objected as a responsible citizen. Instead of correcting the act, I was assaulted and threatened,” the advocate reportedly stated in his complaint.
Police Confirm FIR and Ongoing Probe
Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Cubbon Park Police Station in connection with the incident. Authorities said the allegations are being examined and further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
On the other hand, the incident has triggered public concern over police conduct and accountability in public spaces, particularly in high-footfall areas like Church Street.
