Bengaluru: A woman and her three-year-old child died following a gas cylinder explosion at Vinayaka Layout in Nayandahalli, Bengaluru. Several members of the same family sustained serious burn injuries and are undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Lakshmamma and one of her three-year-old twin children. Lakshmamma had suffered around 70% burn injuries in the explosion. She was undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital and died on Wednesday morning.
Nayandahalli Cylinder Explosion During Cooking
According to preliminary information, the cylinder exploded shortly after the family opened the house door and switched on the stove to prepare food.
Information has also emerged that the cylinder had reportedly been experiencing a leakage problem for the past three days.
The intensity of the explosion left Karilingappa, his wife Lakshmamma and their four children injured. All of them were immediately admitted to Victoria Hospital for treatment.
One of the couple’s three-year-old twin children also died in the incident.
Raichur Family Living In Bengaluru
Karilingappa's family, originally from Raichur, had been living in Vinayaka Layout for the past 25 years.
The family depended on daily-wage work for its livelihood and had been living in a rented house in the area.
Several injured family members continue to receive treatment at Victoria Hospital. Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
