The VB-G Ramji scheme aims to strengthen rural livelihoods and reduce migration to cities by providing employment opportunities to eligible rural families. Officials urged farmers and workers in Chikkanayakanahalli to obtain job cards and use the scheme’s benefits.

Tumakuru: The government’s VB-G Ramji scheme aims to strengthen rural livelihoods and address migration from villages to cities, Panchayat Development Officer Thippeswamy said while urging farmers and eligible rural families to make use of the scheme’s benefits.

Thippeswamy made the appeal while launching a street play and Job Card Mela campaign near the bus stand at Hoysalakatte village in Chikkanayakanahalli town of Tiptur taluk. Pamphlets were also distributed to create awareness about employment opportunities and job cards under the scheme.

Job Card Mela to Cover Eligible Rural Families

Thippeswamy said that the campaign will be conducted from August 15 to September 15. During this period, farmers, labourers and eligible rural families will be checked for employment cards on the spot, while new employment guarantee cards will be issued to eligible beneficiaries.

Those eligible to receive the cards can also approach the Gram Panchayat under their jurisdiction and obtain employment cards, he said, urging beneficiaries to use the facilities provided under the scheme.

Priority for Vulnerable Rural Families

Secretary Bhaskar said the VB-G Ramji scheme should contribute to rural development and that its implementation should ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the intended benefits.

He said employment cards would be distributed on priority to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities, persons with disabilities, women-headed families and landless labourers.

The scheme provides an increased annual employment entitlement of 125 days, up from 100 days. The daily wage has also been increased from ₹370 to ₹382, according to the information shared during the campaign.
