Police arrested three villagers after a man died from an illegal electric fence and his body was allegedly buried to conceal the incident
A 55-year-old man died after coming into contact with an illegally electrified wire allegedly set up for wild boar hunting in Chikkamagaluru's Kadur taluk. Police arrested three accused after CCTV footage helped uncover the alleged attempt to secretly bury the victim's body and destroy evidence.
Chikkamagaluru: A 55-year-old man died after being electrocuted by an illegally installed electric wire allegedly used for hunting wild boar in Donnekoranahalli village of Kadur taluk in Chikkamagaluru district. Police have arrested three accused for allegedly attempting to conceal the incident by secretly burying the victim's body.
The deceased has been identified as Kariappa (55), a resident of Donnekoranahalli village. The arrested accused are Chandrappa, Kenchappa and Yadukumar, all residents of the same village.

According to police, the accused had allegedly installed an electrified wire near agricultural land to trap wild boars. Kariappa reportedly came into contact with the live wire while passing through the area and died on the spot.
"Police alleged that the accused attempted to bury the victim's body to conceal the incident and destroy evidence after the electrocution."
CCTV Footage Helped Police Uncover the Case in Chikkamagaluru
After Kariappa failed to return home, his family members and relatives searched for him but were unable to locate him. They subsequently lodged a missing person complaint at the Yagati Police Station.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from nearby areas and gathered evidence that led them to the accused. The investigation revealed the alleged attempt to dispose of the body without informing authorities.
Based on the findings, police arrested all three accused and registered a case. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events.
Chikkamagaluru Villagers Demand Strict Action
As details of the incident emerged, villagers gathered outside the Yagati Police Station and demanded strict legal action against those responsible.
Police said the accused are being questioned, and additional evidence is being collected as part of the ongoing investigation.
Illegal Electric Fences Pose Serious Risk in Chikkamagaluru
Authorities have repeatedly warned that illegally electrifying fences or wires to prevent crop damage or hunt wild animals is prohibited and poses a serious threat to both humans and wildlife.
Police are also examining whether wildlife protection laws and other relevant legal provisions apply in the case, in addition to charges related to the death and the alleged destruction of evidence.
