Police rule out bomb angle after preliminary probe into Mahindra XUV300 explosion near Hipparagi village in Jamkhandi taluk
A Mahindra XUV300 car that exploded near Hipparagi village in Bagalkot district was not damaged by a bomb or explosive, according to police. Preliminary findings indicate the blast may have been caused by a technical malfunction or battery-related issue, while the investigation continues.
Bagalkot: The explosion of a Mahindra XUV300 vehicle near Hipparagi village in Jamkhandi taluk of Bagalkot district was not caused by a bomb or explosive, Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal said on Sunday. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident was likely triggered by a technical fault or a battery-related issue.
Speaking about the incident, SP Goyal said the investigation has so far found no evidence suggesting the involvement of explosives. Police have also examined CCTV footage from the area as part of the inquiry.
"Prima facie, the explosion appears to have been caused by a technical fault or a battery-related issue. We have not found any indication of a bomb or explosive inside the vehicle," SP Siddharth Goyal said.
Police Rule Out Bomb Angle in Bagalkot Car Blast
According to the Superintendent of Police, investigators have not recovered any material indicating the use of explosives. Officials are now focusing on the vehicle's battery system and other technical components to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

He added that the blast impact was felt within an estimated radius of 50 to 60 metres, but noted that the force of the explosion did not match what would typically be expected in a bomb blast.
"If it had been a bomb blast, the impact would have been much greater. The exact cause will be confirmed only after the technical and forensic reports are received," he said.
One Person Suffers Minor Injury in Bagalkot Car Blast
Police said no fatalities were reported in the incident. One person sustained minor injuries and has since returned home after receiving treatment.
Authorities are continuing the investigation from multiple angles while awaiting expert analysis of the damaged vehicle.
XUV300 Explosion Took Place Outside Wine Shop
The incident occurred late on Saturday night when a Mahindra XUV300 parked outside a wine shop on the outskirts of Hipparagi village suddenly exploded.
The vehicle reportedly belonged to Jayashree Hanamantha Athani, who was expected to travel in the same vehicle. Fortunately, no occupants were inside the car at the time of the explosion, preventing a more serious incident.
Bomb Disposal Squad Inspected the Scene in Bagalkot Car Blast
Following the explosion, senior district police officers, along with personnel from the Belagavi Bomb Disposal Squad and a dog squad, visited the site to inspect the vehicle and collect evidence.
Police said forensic and technical examinations are continuing, and the final cause of the explosion will be confirmed after receiving the complete investigation report.
