Investigators widen inquiry into alleged sexual harassment and conversion case as new details emerge during questioning of an accused

Nashik: The investigation into the alleged sexual harassment and forced conversion case linked to a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee in Maharashtra's Nashik district has taken a significant turn after fresh disclosures reportedly emerged during the interrogation of one of the accused. Investigating agencies are now examining additional aspects of the case as they seek to establish the full sequence of events behind the allegations.

Authorities said the inquiry is progressing on multiple fronts, with investigators reviewing statements, digital evidence, and documents collected during the course of the probe. The case has already drawn widespread attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and the number of complaints registered.

Fresh Developments Emerge in the Nashik TCS Case Investigation

According to information gathered during questioning, accused Nida Khan allegedly told investigators that she had taken the complainant to her residence. During the inquiry, it was further revealed that the complainant was reportedly introduced to religious practices and briefed about prayer-related procedures.

The latest disclosures have prompted investigators to closely examine whether the interactions were limited to religious guidance or whether any coercion, undue influence, or unlawful conversion-related activities may have occurred. Officials have not yet reached any conclusions and are continuing to verify all claims through evidence and witness statements.

"Investigators are examining whether the interactions were voluntary in nature or if any form of coercion was involved, based on available evidence and witness accounts."

Sexual Harassment and Conversion Allegations Under Investigation

The case originated from a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged sexual harassment and forced conversion. Based on the complaint, police initiated investigations into several aspects of the matter and subsequently registered multiple cases.

Authorities are currently compiling statements from all parties connected to the case while also analysing electronic records, communication data, and other documentary evidence that may assist the investigation.

Officials stated that every allegation is being examined independently and in accordance with established legal procedures.

Nine FIRs Registered in the Nashik Case

Police officials confirmed that nine First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered in connection with the matter so far. Following the completion of preliminary investigations in the respective cases, charge sheets have reportedly been submitted before the competent courts.

However, investigators indicated that newly emerging information could lead to further examination of specific allegations and related circumstances.

The ongoing probe aims to determine whether additional offences may have been committed and whether any other individuals played a role in the events under scrutiny.

"Authorities have stated that all evidence is being assessed objectively and that further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation."

Police Continue Evidence-Based Investigation

Law enforcement agencies emphasized that the investigation is being conducted impartially and strictly within the framework of the law. Statements from witnesses, accused individuals, and other relevant persons are being recorded and verified.

Officials have reiterated that no conclusions will be drawn until all available evidence is examined thoroughly. Any new facts uncovered during the course of the investigation will be evaluated before appropriate legal action is initiated.

The case continues to generate significant public attention across Maharashtra, with authorities maintaining that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Background of the TCS Nashik Case

The case, widely referred to as the TCS Nashik sexual harassment and conversion case, emerged as one of Maharashtra's most closely watched criminal investigations in 2026. The controversy began after a 23-year-old woman employee working at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO unit in Nashik alleged that she had been subjected to sexual harassment, workplace exploitation, and pressure to convert her religion. Following her complaint, several other women employees reportedly came forward with similar allegations, prompting authorities to register multiple FIRs and launch a wider investigation.

According to investigators, the complainant alleged that she was pressured to adopt Islamic religious practices, watch videos of religious preachers, and make changes to her lifestyle and appearance. Nida Khan, a former Process Associate at the TCS facility and one of the key accused in the case, is alleged to have played a role in facilitating interactions between employees and dismissing internal complaints of harassment. Authorities are also probing allegations that she encouraged certain religious practices among colleagues and concealed material information related to another accused in the case.

The Maharashtra government subsequently constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations. Nida Khan was arrested on May 7, 2026, after reportedly remaining absconding for more than 40 days. Multiple FIRs have been registered in connection with the case, and investigators have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The case has also triggered political debate in Maharashtra, with some political figures coming under the scanner during the investigation.

Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services clarified that Nida Khan was employed as a Process Associate and was not part of the company's Human Resources department. The company stated that it had suspended employees linked to the case, initiated an internal inquiry, and reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards workplace harassment, discrimination, and coercion.

"The allegations remain under investigation, and the guilt or innocence of the accused will ultimately be determined through the judicial process and findings of the competent courts."
