Ghazipur: A key accused wanted in the murder of a local businessman in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district was killed in a police encounter late Wednesday night. The deceased, identified as Kamlesh Chaudhary alias Kamlesh Bind, carried a reward of ₹1 lakh on his arrest and was among the prime suspects in a high-profile murder case that shocked the region last week.
According to police officials, Kamlesh was wanted in connection with the murder of businessman Vinit Rai, who was allegedly killed on May 29 in Ghazipur. The accused had been absconding since the incident, prompting authorities to launch an extensive manhunt.
Ghazipur Police Encounter Ends Search for Murder Accused
Police sources said the encounter took place during an operation aimed at tracking down the wanted suspect. Acting on intelligence inputs regarding his location, a police team moved to intercept him.
During the operation, Kamlesh allegedly attempted to evade arrest, leading to an exchange of fire. He sustained serious injuries in the encounter and was later declared dead.
