Police arrest accused after medical examination confirms sexual assault on a college student in Bengaluru's Whitefield area

Bengaluru: A shocking sexual assault case in Bengaluru's IT corridor has triggered outrage after a college student was allegedly abducted and raped while returning to her paying guest (PG) accommodation in the early hours of the morning. Police have arrested the accused following an investigation that began after the victim was found in a distressed condition near a shed in Whitefield.

The incident came to light after medical examinations reportedly confirmed sexual assault, prompting police to register charges of kidnapping and rape against the accused.

College Student Allegedly Attacked Near Whitefield PG

According to police investigations, the victim, a college student residing at a co-living PG facility in Pattandur Agrahara, had reportedly been studying until around 3:30 a.m. Feeling sleepy, she stepped out to a nearby tea stall for refreshments.

While returning to the PG accommodation, an unidentified man allegedly began following her. Investigators said the accused allegedly intercepted the student near the PG premises and forcibly took her to a nearby shed.

Police stated that the victim later informed investigators that she was allegedly attacked and lost consciousness during the incident.

"The victim's statement and medical evidence became key components of the investigation conducted by Whitefield police."

Medical Examination Leads to Rape Case Registration

Authorities said the victim was later discovered in a distressed condition by a security guard, who immediately alerted the PG management and local authorities.

She was subsequently shifted to a hospital for treatment and medical examination. Based on the findings of the medical assessment and the victim's statement, police registered a case under relevant sections related to kidnapping and rape.

Investigators collected evidence from the crime scene and reviewed available leads to identify the suspect.
