Manama: Bahrain has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council after condemning what it described as Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting the Gulf nation. The Bahraini government said the strikes violated its sovereignty, threatened civilian safety and further destabilised an already tense regional security environment.
According to Bahrain's Interior Ministry, a residential building in the Muharraq area sustained damage during the alleged attack. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities were reported, while emergency and security agencies immediately responded to the site to assess the damage and implement necessary safety measures.
Bahrain Condemns Iran Missile Attack and Seeks UN Action
In an official statement carried by the Bahrain News Agency, the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the alleged missile and drone strikes, describing them as a serious violation of Bahrain's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ministry said the attacks endangered the lives of citizens and residents while undermining ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting stability.
As a result, Bahrain formally requested the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session to address what it described as continued aggression and to ensure accountability for those responsible.
"Bahrain urged the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to address the alleged attacks and ensure accountability."
Residential Building Damaged in Muharraq, No Fatalities Reported
The Interior Ministry stated that one residential building in Muharraq suffered damage following the alleged Iranian attack.
Officials confirmed that emergency responders, civil defence personnel and other relevant authorities quickly secured the affected area and initiated necessary response measures.
Authorities said no deaths were reported in the incident, while assessments of property damage and the overall impact remain ongoing.

Bahrain Reaffirms Right to Defend Sovereignty
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry reiterated the country's right to protect its sovereignty, national security and territorial integrity in accordance with international law.
The ministry also held the Iranian government fully responsible for any further escalation resulting from what it described as continuing acts of aggression.
Officials stressed that Bahrain remains committed to safeguarding national security while supporting regional peace and stability through international cooperation.
Pakistan and Bahrain Discuss Regional Stability
Separately, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation with Bahrain's Foreign Minister, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, to discuss the evolving regional security situation following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to Pakistan's Foreign Office, Dr Al Zayani congratulated Pakistan on facilitating the Islamabad MoU and commended Islamabad's diplomatic efforts in promoting dialogue and regional stability.
The Bahraini foreign minister expressed hope that the understanding would contribute to lasting peace across the region and announced his intention to visit Pakistan in the near future.
During the proposed visit, Dr Al Zayani plans to personally convey his appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Chief of Defence Staff for their reported role in supporting efforts that led to the ceasefire understanding.
