A 17-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her father in Karnataka’s Tumakuru after he reportedly opposed her relationship
Tumakuru: In a horrifying case that has shocked Karnataka, a father has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old daughter and secretly burying her body in a ditch near his farmland in Tumakuru district. The incident came to light in Nimbemaradahalli village of Sira taluk after police uncovered disturbing evidence during the missing person investigation.
The victim, identified as Meghana, was allegedly in a relationship with a relative from her mother’s side. Police sources said her father, identified as Timmarayappa, strongly opposed the relationship, leading to repeated arguments inside the family.
Investigators suspect the conflict escalated over time, eventually leading to the brutal crime.
Father Allegedly Killed Daughter Over Relationship
According to the preliminary police investigation, Timmarayappa allegedly killed his daughter on April 16 and buried her body in a ditch near his agricultural land in an attempt to destroy evidence and avoid suspicion.
In a shocking twist, after allegedly committing the crime, he reportedly approached police himself and filed a missing persons complaint to mislead investigators.
Police Investigation Exposes Murder Plot
Officials from Kallambella Police Station grew suspicious of inconsistencies in the father’s statements during the investigation.
When police intensified questioning, the accused reportedly went missing for some time, raising further suspicion. After tracking him down, investigators questioned him again, during which he allegedly confessed to the murder.
Body Recovered in Sira Taluk
Police later recovered the victim’s body from the burial site near the family’s farmland. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Authorities are now investigating whether any other family members had prior knowledge of the crime.
