A 55-year-old man allegedly died by suicide with a licensed rifle after recurring family tensions in a village in Uttar Pradesh

Sultanpur: A tragic incident linked to prolonged domestic conflict has shocked Sultanpur after a 55-year-old man allegedly shot himself with a licensed rifle despite an earlier police-led settlement in the family dispute case.

The deceased has been identified as Mufeed, a resident of Odra village under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Dehat Police Station. According to police and local sources, the man had been facing continuous disputes with his second wife for a considerable period.

The incident has triggered mourning across the village, while family members remain devastated following the sudden death.

Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Authorities stated that an investigation into the case is currently underway.

Domestic Dispute in Sultanpur Had Earlier Reached Police

According to villagers, tension inside the family had reportedly escalated repeatedly over the past few months due to disputes between Mufeed and his second wife.

Sources stated that the matter had earlier reached the Kotwali Dehat police station, where police officials allegedly counselled both sides and advised them to reconcile before sending them back home.

However, locals claimed that arguments inside the household allegedly continued even after the police intervention.

On Saturday, another heated argument reportedly took place between the couple inside their residence. Amid the ongoing tension, Mufeed allegedly picked up his licensed rifle and shot himself.

“Prima facie, the incident appears to be a suicide case. Further investigation is ongoing,” police officials stated.

Licensed Rifle Recovered After Sultanpur Suicide Incident

Family members and nearby residents rushed to the house after hearing the gunshot, but Mufeed had reportedly died before help could arrive.

The incident caused panic and emotional distress within the family and the surrounding area.

Villagers stated that Mufeed’s first wife had died earlier and that he had three sons and one daughter from his first marriage. He later remarried, but according to local residents, family disputes reportedly continued afterwards.

Police personnel inspected the scene, prepared the inquest report and recovered the licensed weapon used in the incident.

Police Await Post-Mortem Report

Hrithik Kapoor stated that investigators are examining all possible aspects connected to the case.

Officials said further legal action and conclusions will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report and ongoing inquiry.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over emotional stress and the psychological impact prolonged domestic disputes can have on individuals and families.
