A four-year-old boy trapped nearly 30 feet inside a borewell in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district was rescued safely after a nine-hour operation
Hoshiarpur: In a dramatic overnight rescue operation, a four-year-old boy who fell into a newly dug borewell in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district was safely rescued after being trapped for nearly nine hours. The incident created panic in the area as rescue teams raced against time to save the child from deep inside the narrow borewell shaft.
The child, identified as Gurkaran Singh, reportedly fell into the borewell while playing outside his home on Friday evening in Chak Samana village near Bhikhowal on the Hoshiarpur Dasuya road.
Punjab Borewell Rescue Operation
According to officials, the child was trapped at a depth of nearly 30 feet after accidentally slipping into the uncovered borehole. Family members immediately alerted local police and emergency authorities, following which a large-scale rescue operation was launched.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and local emergency personnel rushed to the spot and began excavation and rescue efforts under challenging conditions.
NDRF Saves Child After Nine Hours
After nearly nine hours of continuous rescue operations, emergency teams successfully pulled the child out shortly after midnight. The rescue operation drew attention from villagers and local residents, many of whom stayed at the site throughout the night.
“The child was located deep inside the borewell, and the rescue operation continued for several hours before he was safely brought out,” officials said.
The boy was immediately shifted by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Child Health Stable After Rescue
Doctors confirmed that the child is currently under observation and his condition remains stable. Officials said timely action by rescue teams and coordination between multiple agencies helped prevent a tragedy.
