45-year-old EV bike rider Lokesh died on the spot after crashing into a Canter vehicle on a rain-soaked highway near Nelamangala

Bengaluru: A horrific road accident claimed the life of an electric bike rider near Nelamangala on Friday afternoon after his EV bike allegedly collided with a moving Canter vehicle amid heavy rain conditions. The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (45), who reportedly died on the spot due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.

According to preliminary police information, the accident occurred in Madavara area near Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru at around 2:30 pm. Lokesh was reportedly travelling towards Bengaluru on his electric bike when the tragic incident took place on the rain-soaked highway.

Nelamangala EV Bike Accident During Heavy Rain Conditions

Police sources stated that the Canter vehicle ahead of the EV bike was moving at considerable speed due to reduced visibility and wet road conditions caused by continuous rainfall. Officials said the Canter driver allegedly applied sudden brakes on the slippery stretch of the highway.

Due to the rainwater and reduced tyre grip on the road, Lokesh reportedly lost control of his electric bike and rammed directly into the rear side of the Canter vehicle. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in fatal injuries. He was declared dead at the scene itself.

Eyewitnesses and local commuters immediately alerted the police following the accident.

“Motorists must maintain a safe distance during rain to avoid fatal highway accidents,” police officials cautioned after the incident.

Madanayakanahalli Police Register Case After Fatal Highway Crash

Officials from Madanayakanahalli Police Station rushed to the accident spot soon after receiving information and conducted an initial inspection. The body of the deceased was later shifted to the government hospital mortuary in Nelamangala for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case under the jurisdiction of Madanayakanahalli Police Station and further investigation is currently underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crash.

The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety during the monsoon season, especially on busy highways around Bengaluru, where slippery roads and sudden braking often lead to fatal accidents.

Authorities have urged commuters and two-wheeler riders to drive cautiously, wear protective safety gear, and maintain adequate distance from heavy vehicles during rainy weather conditions.
