A Hyderabad-to-Goa tourist vehicle overturned near Chukkanakal in Koppal after a sudden tyre burst left multiple passengers seriously injured
Koppal: A major road accident was reported in Karnataka’s Koppal district during the early hours of Friday after a moving Tempo Traveller vehicle lost control and overturned near Chukkanakal on the outskirts of the city following a sudden tyre burst.
According to preliminary information, the tourist vehicle was carrying passengers from Hyderabad to Goa when the accident occurred. The impact of the tyre explosion reportedly caused the driver to lose control, leading the vehicle to overturn on the roadside.
As many as 12 passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash. Officials confirmed that a two-year-old child travelling in the vehicle remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing intensive treatment.
The injured passengers were immediately shifted to the Koppal District Hospital, where doctors are continuing emergency medical care. Several passengers are believed to have suffered fractures and head injuries due to the severity of the accident.
Koppal Road Accident Triggers Emergency Response
Local residents and emergency responders rushed to the spot soon after the accident was reported. Police personnel from the Koppal Town Police Station reached the scene and began an inspection into the cause of the crash.
Authorities suspect that the sudden tyre burst at high speed may have directly led to the accident, though a detailed technical investigation is currently underway. Traffic movement in the area was temporarily affected as rescue operations and vehicle clearance continued.
“The injured were shifted to the hospital immediately after the accident. Investigation into the exact cause is ongoing,” police officials stated.
Hyderabad to Goa Tourist Trip Ends in Tragedy
The Tempo Traveller involved in the accident was reportedly part of a tourist trip travelling from Hyderabad towards Goa. The incident has once again raised concerns over highway safety, vehicle maintenance, and tyre condition checks during long-distance travel.
Road safety experts often warn that tyre bursts at high speed can turn fatal, especially in passenger vehicles carrying multiple tourists during overnight journeys.
Police are expected to register a formal case and collect statements from passengers and witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
